I did some light works at the Langweiligkeit Festival last weekend. My location was a beautiful small windy circustent. Dubstep dj-sets by Untold, Pangea, Youngsta and Grimelock a.o.

‘A wide-ranging and substantive festival covering all aspects of the world of image and media’. This is how we like to describe the International Festival of the Image Rotterdam (IBFR). The festival will be launched on 30 & 31 October in the Lloyd District in Rotterdam.
The IBFR embraces both a broad focus and a broad definition of the notion of the image – essential when presenting a cross-section of the image culture and related industries. With this in mind the IFBR offers an edgy mix not only of disciplines but also of creators, conceptualisers, inspirers and consumers from the worlds of both traditional and digital media. The substantive programme of seminars, presentations and installations make the festival a must for originators, commissioners, students and all those interested in the phenomenon of the image.
Unique
The festival is unique: there is no other festival in the Netherlands or elsewhere devoted to such diverse aspects of the world of the image and their interrelationships. The wide-ranging and substantive programme has been achieved in close concert with municipal agencies and creative groups. The Rotterdam-based ‘Institute of Form & Image’ is the organisational force behind the festival. Our ambition is to make the IBFR a major and ever-expanding annual event.

Last week I made a new shower drain cover.
Something special for my girlfriend and mother of my son.
When the water hits the metal subtle sounds can be heard. A good morning indeed!
Will make more designs for shower drains. The standard covers are so no.
Today this funny german voice said to me that they have accepted my offer…
Me is so happy!
Behold my new mobile workspace and second home.

My street is 100 years old. A big celibration all-day long was organised. Picture below is one of my projectors touching the chinese lampions we hung above the street. Good honest local foods and live music made the happening a good one!

The image below is what you see with 3 strobe’s on different speed. The image is repeated 3 times and because of the phasing effect an animation is created. Plugging the main motor of the spinner into the same power-supply as the bass-bins-amplifier results into a sound-controlled image-light-installation.
I’ve been playing with this self-engineered machine now for 9 years and the results at a party are nice…
In the light-works section are more examples to be found of the ‘Rad van Fortuin’.

In a few days the final paint will be dry and I will install the last pieces of furniture for the Bootleg dj-café. An intens and special period will be closed. A date for an official opening of the bar is in the make.
The table took much more time to construct than anticipated, but the result is a good one. The colour is similar to the bench, photo is coming, ral 7004. Extra layers of matt pu-strengthened varnish will protect the object from drunken tagging youths…

Last night I finished the long awaited chandelier for the Bootleg club. It’s a cluster of four rectangular volumes.
Photos on-site will follow later this week.
The monolith of ‘Space Odyssey 2010′ finally found his 3 lost brothers…
